Brian Hugh Stephens, 87, of Murrells Inlet, SC, passed away on Saturday, March 12, 2022 at his home surrounded by his family.
A private family service will be held on Saturday, March 19 at Goldfinch Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm at their home to remember him and celebrate his life.
Brian was born August 17, 1934 in Rosyth, Scotland to Thomas and Martha (Prickett) Stephens. After completing his Military Service, he worked for the Bank of England and was transferred to Central America where he met Margaret – his wife and soulmate. They married on July 14, 1962, in West Wickham, Kent and returned to Central America where they started a family and eventually moved to England in 1967 and then to the United States in 1982. He and Margaret became proud US citizens in 2003.
Brian was an avid golfer, reader, music lover, crossword, bridge, trivia and jigsaw puzzle enthusiast and his family was his pride and joy. Retirement in 2002 brought him and Margaret to Murrells Inlet where he was able to enjoy his golfing passion and where he made so many good friends.
Brian is survived by his beloved wife Margaret, his son Michael and his two daughters Paula and partner Holly and Diane and son in law Matthew.
Brian always looked at life in a positive light and was deeply loved by family and friends. He will be greatly missed.
