Brian was born in Columbus, IN on March 12, 1970, the son of Marvin and Janice Truex. He graduated from Purdue University with a degree in Electrical Engineering, a testament to his sharp intellect. His passion for engineering was paralleled only by his love for aviation, a passion that saw him transition through the ranks all the way to Captain. Brian’s career with Atlas Air allowed him to be admired by colleagues and passengers alike for his skill, professionalism, and calm demeanor.
In his spare time, Brian enjoyed spending time as a member of Nicholson Christian Church and 7 Hills Church and of the Pilot’s Union “ALPA”, tinkering with technology and flying radio-controlled airplanes.
A devoted husband and father, Brian is survived by his beloved wife of 22 years, Maria Truex; son, Nicholas Truex; mother and stepfather, Janice Truex and Gene Young; brother, Tony Truex; niece, Tiffany Truex; nephew, Quintin Truex; as well as many other close relatives and friends whose lives are now emptier upon his passing.
Preceding Brian in death was his father, Marvin Quinton Truex; his aunt, Anna and his grandparents, especially Denzel Truex whom he was very close to.
A celebration of Brian’s life will take place from 10:00 AM until 11:30 AM on Friday, May 31, 2024, at Nicholson Christian Church, 1970 Walton Nicholson Road, Independence, KY 41051. A funeral service will immediately follow at 11:30 AM at the church.
