Brian Walling, 46, passed away suddenly on November 10, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and generosity that touched everyone who knew him. Born in Brooklyn to the late Cliff and Carol Walling, Brian grew up in Staten Island, where he attended Our Lady Star of the Sea and Monsignor Farrell High School. He later earned his Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice from St. John's University. For many years, Brian worked as a Site Supervisor with Citnalta Construction Corp., where his strong work ethic and easygoing nature earned him the respect and friendship of his colleagues.
Brian found joy in fishing and hunting, particularly when doing so with friends. Brian enjoyed the friendship of loyal and loving friends that grew into adulthood together. To them, he was fiercely loyal.
Brian had a gift for making everyone around him feel special. He found true joy in the success and happiness of others. He never shied from the chance to help a young person, whether it be to mentor someone interested in the construction trades or to support a young athlete.
As the Vice President of Youth Hockey for Scotch Plains-Fanwood Ice Hockey, Brian formed and coach spring hockey teams and looked for every opportunity to grow the sport he loved. This fall, his efforts resulted in the community's first ball hockey program.
More than anything, he loved his family. He was a devoted husband and outstanding father, deeply involved in his children's lives. To him, they were everything and his life was defined by their passions and interests. From cold days in hockey rinks to long days in Disney World, there was nothing Brian wouldn't do to bring joy to his family.
Known for his sharp Irish wit, endless generosity and fierce loyalty, Brian was loved by many.
He is predeceased by his loving parents and is survived by his wife of 18 years, Joyce Lucchese Walling, and their three beloved children, Liam (12), Lyla (10), and Declan (7). He is also survived by his sister, Alexis Walling, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will forever miss his warmth and generous spirit. Visitation will be at Memorial Funeral Home, 155 South Ave., Fanwood on Sunday, November 16th from 2-6PM. A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, November 17th at 10AM at St. Bartholomew the Apostle, Church in Scotch Plains. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Staten Island.

what a profound loss. Brian was an incredible man. He was always smiling, friendly and willing to help others. He was a former neighbor and a friend. Gone way to soon. My deepest condolences to Joyce and Brian's entire family.
