Brian Weiss Obituary

Brian L. Weiss entered this world in Reading on September 18, 1956, the pride and joy of June (Heck) and Lester Weiss. After a few moves and elementary years in Pottstown, the family returned to Reading. He met his future wife, Denise (Englehart) at Northeast Jr. High in 1971. Both graduating from Reading High in 1974, they married in 1979. His son Joshua, and daughter Ashley were his greatest achievements. He was extremely proud of their educational, career, and life choices. His grandson Brayden (Bug) was the reason he fought to live these seven years post-transplant. He welcomed Dylan Brabant, son of his daughter-in-law Roxanne, as a "bonus-grandson." Roxanne kept Brian in line, and walking Rex gave him purpose in retirement. Long walks and Andy Griffith reruns with his sister Nadine (Smet-Weiss) helped both to re-member their connection. Not wanting to be confined, Brian chose life work in the outdoors. French Creek State Park was his favorite job, followed by many years as a union laborer, then ending his career on the Muhlenberg Twp. road crew. Lucky for him, Denise enjoyed planning vacations. Together they saw a lot, including Alaska (his favorite), Barbados, and a family trip to Amsterdam. Pre- transplant, he spent many hours enjoying beers and friends at The Goose House, Ronnie's, and Northmont. The family is thankful to Penn Medicine - especially Matt - for their kindness, concern and excellent care over the years. A visitation (10:30-11:30 am) and service (11:30) will be held Wednesday, January 4, 2023, at Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., West Reading with burial to follow at Forest Hills Memorial Park. Dress casual, wear your jeans and sneakers or work boots, AND DO WEAR A MASK! Due to allergy sensitivities NO FLOWERS PLEASE. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Penn Transplant Institute, Perelman Center for Advanced Medicine, West Pavilion, 2nd Floor, 3400 Civic Center Boulevard, Philadelphia, PA 19104 or Clyde F. Barker Transplant House Gift Fund, 3940 Spruce St., Philadelphia, PA 19104. Condolences may be expressed at www.kuhnfuneralhomes.com.
