Brian Young, a beloved father, brother, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully at his home in Kalamazoo, Michigan, on August 5, 2025, at the age of 60. Born and raised in Kalamazoo, Brian’s life was a tapestry of love, laughter, and wonderful memories. All woven together with the threads of loyalty, humor, and heart.

To know Brian was to know joy. He had a magnetic presence—fun-loving, fiercely loyal, and always ready with a dad joke that could break even the toughest silence. His presence was comfort and a reminder that life could be light even in its heaviest moments.

Brian has two children, Tyler and Kristan, who were his best friends, as he was to them. Brian’s heart expanded even more when he became a grandpa (ampa), to Mason, Miss Olivia, Miss Laine, and Miss Landon. He always made sure to call the girls “Miss”, to make sure they knew how special they were and how they should be addressed. Whether he was telling stories, sharing snacks, or engaging in goofy antics that made the kids giggle uncontrollably, Brian found joy in the simplest moments. He was the kind of grandpa who made childhood magical—who turned everyday visits into adventures.

Brian’s siblings, Brad and Traci, have countless great memories of their brother. From Brad and Brian’s countless hours on the basketball court, to Brian singing and dancing around to the band, The Offspring, with Traci, all events were done with laughter. His happiness and excitement in the moment radiated from him. He had a way of making everyone laugh and have fun, when he wanted to.

Brian’s passions were many, and they reflected his vibrant spirit. From BMX in his younger days to his lifelong love of soccer, which he found through watching and coaching Tyler and Kristan. They had countless adventures across the country and world to soccer tournaments, games, and practices.

Brian was rooted in conviction, in loyalty, and in a deep desire to protect and support those he loved. His spirit lives on in the stories we tell, the music we dance to, and the quiet moments when we feel his presence most.

Brian Young was just a good guy trying to make it through without shoving anybody. He will be deeply missed, but never forgotten. His life was a gift, and his memory will continue to be a source of happiness, laughter, comfort, and strength for all who had the privilege of knowing him.
