Brigitte Elsa Mueller

Brigitte Elsa Mueller, age 89, of Chicago, IL passed away peacefully on December 18, 2023 surrounded by her loving family. She was born on July 17, 1934 in Vukovar, Yugoslavia, to the late Barbara and Anton Varga. Brigitte immigrated to the US in 1955, when she reunited with her childhood crush Franz, and they were married shortly after. They began their life together in Chicago, where they raised their five children.
Brigitte was a devoted wife, mother, sister, Oma and Uli Oma. She was deeply committed to her family and strong faith. Brigitte cherished every moment spent with her loved ones and leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and generosity.
Brigitte had an adventurous spirit and loved traveling with her whole family. The grandchildren enjoyed many wonderful trips with their Oma, and she was able to provide them a lifetime of cherished memories.
Brigitte was a longtime member of the American Aid Society of German Descendants, the St Alphonsus German Choir, and the St Mary of the Woods Parish community.
Brigitte is survived by her children – Fred (Bettina) Mueller, Elizabeth (Joseph) Benz, Michael (Heidi) Mueller, Frank (Sharrie) Mueller, Paul (Andrea) Mueller; her grandchildren - Katrina Mueller, Stephen (Christi) Mueller, Alex (Melissa) Benz, Michael (Samantha) Mueller, Stefanie (Paul) Madison, Anton Mueller, Alex Mueller, Lucas (Sabrina) Mueller, Nicole Mueller, Garrett Mueller, Michelle Mueller, and Ryan Mueller; her great-grandchildren - Jakob, Reece, Sofia, and Charlotte; and her devoted sister Hilde (the late Georg) Thuer.
Brigitte is preceded in death by her loving husband Franz, parents Anton and Barbara Varga, in-laws Jakob and Maria Mueller, and brother-in-law Georg Thuer.
Visitation will be held from 8:30am to 10:30am on Friday, December 22, 2023, at Smith-Corcoran Funeral Home, 6150 N. Cicero Avenue, Chicago, IL
Funeral Mass at 11am on Friday, December 22, 2023, at St. Mary of the Woods Catholic Church, 6955 N. Hiawatha Avenue, Chicago, IL
Internment immediately following at St Joseph Cemetery, River Grove, IL.
