It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our sweet little girl, Briley Maria Mitchell, on February 17, 2026, at 10:35 p.m. Eastern Time at Norton Children's Hospital. She was a strong little girl and such a brave fighter. She fought so hard, and we are incredibly proud of her in her short but meaningful life. Briley kept fighting until the very last minute and passed away peacefully in Mommy and Daddy’s arms.
She was blessed to meet her big brother, Lawson, who was so excited and loved her so very much. He knows that Briley loved him just as deeply. Briley had so many people rooting for her and praying earnestly on her behalf. She was truly loved by everyone who knew her.
If you would please keep our family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time, we would be deeply grateful.
We love each and every one of you. Thank you.
Briley was preceded in death by her great-grandparents, Karla and Robert Cox, Sandra Hettinger, Charles "Ross" and Alfreda Mitchell, and Donald Quinn; and her aunt, Ashlynn Young.
Those left to cherish her memory include her loving parents, Justin and Kirsten Mitchell; her brother, Lawson Mitchell; her grandparents, Melody Young and Steve Rippy; Steve and Linda Cox; and Steve and Kristine Mitchell; her great-grandparents, Shirley and Jim Leet; Rebecca Quinn and John Riley; and Richard Hettinger; her aunts and uncles, Jeffrey and Heidi Mitchell; Jason and Megan Mitchell; Brittany and Olivia Leix; Kamy Cox; and Stevie Cox; as well as numerous loving cousins and extended family members.
Services for Briley will be private.
Care for Briley has been entrusted to Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory.
