Brittany Ann Arnold, age 40, passed away peacefully on September 6, 2025, at her home in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
She was born on May 7, 1985, in Louisville, Kentucky, to James Damien and Susan Lambert Zahn. Brittany spent her early childhood in Louisville, then moved with her family to Charlotte, North Carolina. She graduated from Charlotte Catholic High School, where she excelled as a student and an athlete. She went on to earn her bachelor's degree in Finance and Banking/ Insurance and Risk Management from Appalachian State University. She later built a successful career as an Insurance Claims Specialist with Liberty Mutual.
Brittany's athletic accomplishments were remarkable. She helped lead Charlotte Catholic to a state volleyball championship her sophomore year, earning the title of Most Outstanding Player. At Appalachian State, she was a two-time First Team All-Conference selection and was named Conference Player of the Year in 2007. She was honored as North Carolina Amateur Athlete of the Year and selected to the Associated Press All-South Team in 2007. In 2017, she was inducted into the Appalachian State University Athletics Hall of Fame, a testament to her extraordinary talent and dedication to the sport.
Beyond her professional and athletic achievements, Brittany's heart was devoted to her family.
Brittany was a wonderful Mother to her son Daxton and loved spending time with him and taking part in his sports and activities. She treasured boating on Lake Wylie with her family and friends, and cherished the family's annual summer beach trips. She and her husband, Don, enjoyed traveling together to destinations including Turks and Caicos, San Diego, New York, and Arizona. After relocating to New Mexico, Brittany and Daxton found joy in snow skiing and sharing weekly movie "date nights." Competitive at heart, she also loved gathering with loved ones to play board games.
Brittany loved animals, and cherished her pets Oreo, Thumper, Laila, and Cletus (Mister Fluffy).
Brittany is survived by her beloved son, Daxton Hayes Arnold; her stepson, Donald Herling Arnold III; her children's father, Donald Herling Arnold; her devoted parents, Jim and Susan Zahn; She was preceded in death by her brother, Kevin Michael Zahn.
Brittany will be remembered for her kindness, strength, competitive spirit, and deep love of family.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday September 27, 2025 at 12:30 PM this will be at the Sylvan Abbey Mausoleum, Forest Lawn East Cemetery 3709 Forest Lawn Drive
