1991 - 2026
Brock August Reid, 34, died unexpectedly March 23, 2026, in Hot Springs, South Dakota. He was born September 27, 1991 in Boulder, Colorado, the son of Patrick J. Carpio and Lara Reid.
Brock graduated from Smokey Valley High School, Lindsborg, Kansas, graduating Class of 2010. Following graduation, he went to Bethany College, where he met his future wife, Darrian Wannow. Brock went on to become a chef, and then a licensed Journeyman for 10 years.
Brock loved music and was an extraordinary guitarist and played the trombone. He enjoyed playing D&D with friends and videogames with his family. Brock was a member of The Garage sports entertainment, and enjoyed sword fighting and skateboarding with his daughter, Autumn. The outdoors was Brock's favorite place to be, whether snorkeling in Puerto Rico, fishing, hiking, or foraging for mushrooms with his wife. There wasn't a costume he wouldn't try on or a Viking lore that he didn't know.
Brock is preceded in death by his sister, Jasmine Faith Carpio, and his paternal grandparents. Surviving in addition to his wife, Darrian Nicole Wannow, and daughter, Autumn Fayelinn Reid, are his father, Patrick J. Carpio, and mother, Lara Reid. Brock is survived by his brothers Ethan Reid and Wyatt Reid, and sister Celia Reid; his grandparents Daniel and Gretchen Mulder; and countless cousins and friends.
A Viking Celebration of Life will be held privately for the family. A Celebration of Life for friends and the community will take place later in the year. We thank everyone for their support and prayers during this difficult time. Those wishing to remember Brock in a special way may make a donation in his name to the Sea Turtle Conservancy at https://conserveturtles.org or to the Black Hills Parks and Forests Association at https://blackhillsparks.org.
