Rosemary Reid Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home - Wichita Falls on Mar. 28, 2026.
Rosemary Theresa Reid, 98, of Wichita Falls, Texas, passed away on March 27, 2026. The Rosary will be at 10:00 AM, Monday, March 30, 2027, at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church. The Funeral Mass will follow at 10:30 AM with the Rev. Kyle Walterscheid officiating. The Rite of Committal will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery under the direction of Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home.

She was born in Rapid City, South Dakota, on September 30, 1927, to Martha McCarty and Peter Francis McDonald. Rosemary attended St. John's McNamara School of Nursing in Rapid City, and was an RN at Bethania Hospital, where she set up the first out-patient clinic.

Rosemary married Robert R. Reid Jr. on June 7, 1948, and they lived and traveled as an Air Force family with many tours, including in Europe, Australia, and Okinawa. They moved to Sheppard Air Force Base in 1973, and made Wichita Falls, Texas, their retirement home.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Col (Ret.) Robert "Bob" R. Reid Jr.; son, Robert R. Reid III; her parents; and her two brothers, Frances and Maurice McDonald. She is survived by her children: Paula Beattie, Peter Reid, Mary Altobelli (Dan), Sally Henschel, Scott Reid, John Reid (Carrie), Julie Altobelli (Mark), and Jim Reid (Jennifer). She also is survived by fifteen grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Our mother was a wonderfully strong woman, who created a beautiful, organized home for our large family wherever we landed: We love and will miss you, Mom.
