Brock Michael Welch

Brock Michael Welch, 27, of Sherwood, Arkansas, had his life tragically taken on January 2, 2023. Brock was born on April 13, 1995, in North Little Rock, Arkansas, to Marcy Ann Welch. He grew up in Sherwood within a loving family. He was greatly influenced by his Nana and Papaw, his grandparents, who helped Marcy bring him up with strong Christian family values.

At a young age, Brock gave his life to Jesus and joined First Baptist Church of Sherwood. His study of the Bible influenced his life, and his lengthy prayers before family meals were legendary. As Brock grew into a teenager, he came to love football, and played on the Sylvan Hills High School team, under the direction of Christian men who were role models in putting God first, then family, then football. Graduating Sylvan Hills in 2013, Brock went on to college at the University of Central Arkansas in Conway, where he graduated with a BS in Mathematics. Brock enjoyed his college experience very much, especially his math classes with Dr. Lennon. He continued his education in math by taking online courses in math, coding, and statistics. In his work life, Brock worked in retail and state office jobs, while he continued to search for the ideal job that would develop into a career in math.

Brock was a curious young man, always with something interesting to talk about. He was a gentle, kind soul. We love him with all our hearts, and we will miss his presence on this earth. Nothing was more important to Brock than his family. We cherish the many times we gathered as a family with Brock, and we will aspire to honor his love each time we meet again in fellowship.

Brock was preceded in death by his grandparents, Crawford and Betty Welch.  He is survived by his mother, Marcy; uncle, Roger Welch (Jolene); aunts, Betsy Johnson (Jeff), Cathy Lampe (Tim), Wendy Morris (Monte); cousins, TJ Lampe, Thomas Swift  (Mitzi), Jill Boyd  (Adam), Laura Fields (Howard), Jonathan Fields, Ashley Stahl (Tanner), Rachel Clements Abbott (Cole), Jeff Welch (Carly); second cousins, Hayley (Caleb), Kinsey, Justin, Jaylen, Blane (Chloe), Laila, Parker, Addison, Quinn, Eli, Leo, Dylan, Sadie, Hallie, Samuel, Ethan, Andrew, and Donavan.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, January 13, 2023, at Smith-Sherwood Funeral Home (7700 Hwy 107). Funeral will be at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 14, 2023, at First Baptist Sherwood (701 Country Club Road) with burial following at Rest Hills Memorial Park in Sherwood.

Attendees are welcome to wear the colors of Sylvan Hills: royal blue and white.
