Brodus Jean Obituary

Published by Legacy on Aug. 13, 2025.
Brodus Jean was born on August 27, 1936, and passed away on August 12, 2025, at the age of 88.

He was not just a hard worker-he was a good man. A good husband. When his wife fell ill, he retired early to take care of her full time. He showed all of us what it truly meant to be a family man. He was selfless-willing to give up sleep, shoulder heavy burdens, and do everything in his power to keep her comfortable. He set an example of devotion that went beyond words. Even to the day she passed suddenly, he gave her his whole heart and his every effort.

He lived with quiet endurance. Over the years, he battled skin cancer and a serious heart condition, enduring multiple heart surgeries. Yet, he never once complained about his suffering. That was just his way-he bore hardship without drawing attention to himself. Even when there was a cooked meal that we knew hadn't turned out right, he never said a negative word. He spoke kindly of others, believed the best in people, and never saw the point in questioning things he couldn't change. "Things are the way they are," he would say, and he meant it. He truly embodied the Silent Generation-he suffered but never complained, worked without asking for more, and lived his life with quiet strength.

Brodus was very attached to his grandchildren and great grandchildren, often doting on them and bragging to everyone he knew and spoke to about ow amazing they were. He never seemed to run out of love and attention to give them. Showing off the crafts they would make him, reading them books, holding them while they watched tv, and laughing when they'd give him a smile or doing something he found hilarious.

He is survived by his children, Cindy Hill, Kevin Jean & wife, Alysia, and Patrick Jean & wife, Heather; 10 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; sibling, Gordon Jean & wife, Roxanna.

He is preceded in passing by his wife, Shirley Christine Jean; son, James Darrell Jean; siblings, Annie Rose, Henry Randolph, Harvey Marshall, Robert Thelton, Joseph Kenneth, and Mary Francis.

Family will receive friends on Monday, August 18, 2025, from 10:00 a.m., until time of funeral service at 2:00 p.m., at Charity Tabernacle, 9484 Highway 113, Dry Creek, Louisiana. Rev. Glynn Anderson will be officiating. Interment will follow in the Dry Creek Cemetery in Dry Creek, Louisiana.
