Brookie "Brook" Todd, 71, of Cedar, died Sunday, August 24, 2025, at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City. He was born October 11, 1953, in Cherry Point, North Carolina, the son of Ross and Peggy Knight Todd. He graduated from Oskaloosa High School with the class of 1973. Following graduation, he worked for a short time at Vermeer and Pamco. He also helped on the family farm near Rose Hill. On April 7, 1978, he was united in marriage to Brenda McBurney at the Cedar United Methodist Church. To this union a son Keith was born. Brook started his career as a mechanic in the auto shop at K-Mart in Phoenix, AZ. Brook continued to turn wrenches at K-Mart for a few years then Goodyear. The family moved to Overland, KS., then to Lee's Summit, MO. where he then went on to work at Goodyear, Firestone, and Singer Automotive. After several years away, the family moved back to Cedar, and Brook opened Brooks Auto Repair. He owned and operated the business until he retired in 2005. In retirement he helped move and set mobile and modular homes for Century Homes in Oskaloosa and picked up cars in various states for Carriker Ford. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He loved stock car races and would cheer for drivers from the ARCA Series, Xfinity series and NASCAR. He enjoyed watching young drivers grow through these different series. He loved music and once he got the hang of downloading music and making playlists, it was always a surprise to see what songs he would put together. He enjoyed tracking the music history of all songs and surprising family and friends with a CD that had many different genres. He loved having his family around and especially enjoyed teasing his nieces and nephews.

His family includes his wife of nearly 50 years, Brenda Todd of Cedar; his son, Keith Vernon Todd of Barnes City; two sisters, Kathy (Joe) Nelson and Belinda Todd all of Oskaloosa; two brothers-in-law, Mike (Denise) McBurney and Bruce McBurney and a very special niece, Molly Bruns (Baldy) and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and two great- great nieces.

Brook was preceded in death by his parents; his stepfather, Vern Beck; his in-laws, Keith McBurney and Phyllis Herrington; two stepbrothers, Mike Beck and David Beck; a stepsister, Connie Beck; and a nephew, Ben Beck.
