Brooklyn Becker Obituary

Visit the Garey Funeral Homes - Beaver City website to view the full obituary.

Brooklyn Faith Becker was born on December 4, 1996 and gained her angel wings on Thursday, February 5, 2026 due to complications from an infection.

Brooklyn was born in Winnebago, Nebraska and came home with Joanna on August 9, 1997. She may have had a single mom, but she was blessed with 5 uncles who are the strongest and most influential father figures one girl could have.

In 2001, she gained her built in “best friend” Brayden John, though she didn’t want to admit or acknowledge him right away.

From a young age, she, along with her Grandma Patty, pushed her mom to become a teacher. She had so many opportunities to make new friends, something she became very good at. Joanna, Brooklyn and Brayden spent a few years away from Beaver City when her mom’s job took them to other towns and in 2004, the trio made their way back home to Beaver City and grew up here with family close by.

It was then that she and her now brother, Kyle Chesterman brought their single parents together and helped create the family that they all didn’t know they needed. In 2006, Scott and Joanna were married and they all began the new adventures of the Chesterman Family. The final piece to the puzzle joined the family in 2008, when Krayton William came to finish this beautiful masterpiece.

Brooklyn graduated with the Southern Valley Class of 2015 and began her post high school college career in Curtis at NCTA. This is where she flourished and grew!! She immersed herself in everything horse and animal related, living her absolute best life. It was here that she met some of her loyal and ultimately lifelong friends. These friends became family and her greatest support system to the end.

In 2017, Brooklyn began her long journey with an autoimmune condition, Relapsing Polychondritis, and living life to its absolute fullest on her terms. She faced many setbacks and disappointments on this journey but she never let that affect her positive outlook and infectious smile. She never let anyone see her struggles and she was determined to be someone others could learn from as far as her disease was concerned. She had a tremendous thirst for knowledge and the determination to find answers to her questions.

She graduated in 2019 from the Nebraska Technical College of Agriculture with an Associate’s Degree. Her passion was horses, dogs, cats, any animal, really, she just had a quiet presence with every one she met, and they all felt it.

In 2022, we were given the news that everything that could be done had been for her quickly progressing disease and it was then that her faith and persona further strengthened. Her determination to live her life, on her terms became crystal clear. She went on some trips with close friends and her mom and brother. Her last trip was to Philadelphia to visit PennMed to ensure everything had been done within our power to help her live a long and fulfilling life with the time she had left. We were successful because she was here longer than we ever thought she could be after her diagnosis.

Those celebrating her beautiful life are her parents, Joanna and Scott of Beaver City; brothers, Kyle Chesterman of Phoenix, AZ; Brayden and Krayton of Beaver City. Her ride-or-die constant companion Mortimer Joseph (the dog) and Charles Lorenzo (the cat).
