He is predeceased by his father, Frederick Buckingham; and a brother, Dale Buckingham.
Bruce was born on June 10, 1949 a son of Frederick and Gladys Plummer Buckingham. He attended Lowville Academy where he played football and basketball, graduating in the class of 1967. Bruce then furthered his education at SUNY Oswego and graduated from the Industrial Arts Program. While at Oswego, Bruce made many friends, whom he kept in close touch with. He played for the Watertown Red and Black football team. On April 22, 1972, he married Candace McCann, a loving union which lasted 52 years. Bruce taught Industrial Arts at Beaver River Central School for many years, until his retirement in 2004. Through the years he coached football, golf, and boys and girls basketball. Mr. Buck taught Driver's Education at summer school at Lowville Academy for 49 years.
Bruce strongly believed in giving back to his community. He was a firefighter for 49 years with the New Bremen Volunteer Fire Department, a past president of the Northern New York Firemen's Association, a 3rd Degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus in Croghan, and a member of the Retired Educators of New York Scholarship and FASNY Scholarship Committees.
He enjoyed bowling and golfing with his buddies in his spare time, which was always saved for that purpose solely. Above all, Bruce was happiest at his camp, where he spent much of his time hunting.
