Bruce was born on December 25, 1955, as fourth of 5 children born to Gladys and Earl Compton. Bruce attended school in Amity, Oregon, where he graduated with the class of 1975. Bruce settled with his late wife, Lori (Beard) Compton in Sheridan, Oregon in 1994, where they built their home together.
A true tradesman, there was nothing Bruce couldn't fix or build; working throughout his life as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic, he retired from Hampton Lumber Willamina Division in 2022.
Bruce's dedication to his family was a pillar in his life. He went above and beyond to ensure that the needs of this family were always met. His gentle spirit and quiet words of wisdom live on through his children and grandchildren, who will miss him greatly.
Bruce is survived by his sons, Derek (Melissa) Gerwig, Dustin Gerwig, and Kyle Compton; and his daughters, Brittany (Glenn) Beyer, and Kailey (Brandon Martinez) Compton; and 9 grandchildren. He is also survived by his mother, Gladys Compton, and his siblings, Marilyn Sweden, Nancy (Jerry) Fenstermacher, Ron (Juanita) Compton, and Janell (Joe) Schomus.
Bruce is preceded in death by his wife, Lori (Beard) Compton, his son, Matthew A. (Bethany) Compton, and his father, Earl E. Compton.
A private memorial will be held for Bruce on Friday, September 5th at Hopewell Community Church where he will be laid to rest with his wife and son.
