Bruce Conant Obituary

Published by Legacy on Jun. 11, 2024.
Bruce has passed from this life, at home, after a courageous battle, with and complications of, Pulmonary Fibrosis, AFIB, and Congestive Heart Failure, with his wife and best friend Ali (Dennis) by his side. Bruce was born and raised in Middleboro, then resided in Plympton for 30 years. He is predeceased by his parents Gordon and Doreen, and sadly, as of this writing, his sister, Sandra has also passed. His passing has left a huge void for family and friends, who love him and miss him greatly.
Bruce was a proud Vietnam Navy Veteran, his home port being Pearl Harbor. He served as a Ship Fitter, aboard USS Tombigbee (AOG11), a gasoline tanker, which supplied petroleum products to air and ground forces in I Corps. Upon his discharge from the Navy, Bruce had several different job opportunities, throughout his life. He went back to school and became a Journeyman Molder, creating in part, many bronze plaques, including some for the Red Sox, on Yawkey Way and at Tabor Academy. He also made furniture, drilled wells, and worked construction, frame to finish. He loved remodeling, albeit sometimes challenging, their 1850's home. Bruce was known for his Yankee ingenuity. He could plan it, create it and make it work.
Bruce was an avid fisherman, hunter, gardener, and softball player. He had a great sense of humor, loved cruising to Bermuda, and being a music lover, loved to dance, his favorite song being BTO's, "Taking Care of Business," and enjoyed attending concerts. Along with Ali, Bruce is survived by his beloved daughter, Jennifer and her husband Russell, stepchildren Michael and his wife Adriana, Erin and her husband Chris, Sean and his wife Jenny, and grandchildren, Nicholas, Hayley, Casandra, Ryan and Sarah, great grandson Levi, brother-in-law Denny and his wife Marianne and several nieces and nephews. Bruce is also greatly missed by "his girls", their cats, Nickel and Dime.
Bruce truly loved life and all it had to offer, and sadly, left this life far too soon. A celebration of his life will take place on Saturday, July 13th, with military honors at 3pm, in their yard that he loved, with family and invited friends, sharing stories of Bruce and toasting him this farewell, that he may forever have, "Fair Winds and Following Seas".
