Bruce Martin Elle passed away June 24, 2023 in Jensen Beach, Florida. Bruce was born to Bruce and Margaret (Phelps) Elle in Rochester, NY on October 7, 1944.
Bruce graduated from Hoosac Prep School in 1964. He later enlisted and proudly served in Vietnam as part of the United States Coast Guard from 1965-70, United States Army 1971-74, and United States Navy 1974-76. Bruce was a Purple Heart Wounded Veteran.
Bruce married the love of his life, Elizabeth Mitchell July 18, 1987 and raised their blended family in the Adirondacks in Upstate New York. Bruce made a career as a mechanic, machinist and fabricator. He later retired to Sebastian, FL to enjoy fishing, boating, frequenting the gun range and tinkering in his garage. Bruce enjoyed teaching his kids various life skills, especially working on cars.
Bruce is survived by his son Bruce L. (Ros) Elle of New Zealand, step son Jesse Mitchell of Lombard, IL and step daughter Lauren Mitchell of Fort Pierce, FL. Nieces Brenda Elle, Stephanie Elle, Erin Orr and nephew Jacob Powell. Bruce is predeceased by his parents, his brother John Elle, sister Judith Powell and his wife Elizabeth Elle whom he was married to for 34 years.
Bruce will be best remembered for his many stories and his wealth of knowledge regarding the military and history along with various other topics. Bruce will be greatly missed but now he can enjoy being reunited with his beloved wife and family.
Services will be held privately at a later date.
