Mr. Bruce Robert Hemingway, age 84, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 15, 2024, at Ascension Genesys Hospital in Grand Blanc.
Bruce was born in Otter Lake, Michigan, on May 30, 1940, to the late Bruce Walter & the late Betty Jane Hemingway (née Jones). He was raised in Otter Lake alongside his sisters, Bonnie, Marilyn, and Joyce Ann. On October 30, 1959, Bruce married the love of his life, Kay Jewell. Together they shared countless memories, raised their six children, and celebrated almost 65 years of marriage. Before retirement in 1992, Bruce worked as a skilled tradesman with General Motors. He enjoyed traveling and took trips all over the United States, including Alaska, Hawaii, and Florida. Bruce was an active member of the Millington Masonic Lodge #470. Always one to help another Bruce enjoyed helping on projects. Above all, family was most important to Bruce. He was a dear husband, devoted father, and beloved grandfather & great-grandfather.
Bruce is forever loved by his wife, Kay Hemingway; children: Brucie (Mary) Hemingway, Kathy (Dan) Rude, Lynette (Chuck) Love, Pamela (Bill Jr.) Woolwine, Debra (Larry) Olmstead, and Diana (John) Allard; grandchildren: Jeff, Kyle, Jennifer, Ashley, Ryan, Adam, Trisha, Billy, Justin, Kayla, Lauren, Sydney, Caleb, Carlee, and Cassie; 11 great-grandchildren; sister, Bonnie Orton; sisters-in-law: Joyce Bickel, Greta (Jim) Opperman, and Linda Rock; brother-in-law, Don McKay; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.
Bruce was preceded in death by his sisters, Marilyn Murphy, and Joyce Ann McKay; and brothers-in-law, Victor Bickel, Marvin Jewell, Ed Jewell, Daryl Rock, and Ray Orton.
Bruce’s family will welcome visitors to Hanlin Funeral Home in Millington on Thursday, July 18, 2024, from 2-8 p.m. A memorial service conducted by the Masonic Lodge #470 will begin at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral services for Bruce will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 19, 2024, at the Millington United Methodist Church; additional visitation from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Burial to follow in Millington Township Cemetery.
Donations in Bruce's memory may be directed to the Millington United Methodist Church or Masonic Lodge #470 of Millington.
