Bruce R. Hodgson, age 74, of Wellington, died on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Born February 7, 1951, he was the son of Gayle and Lois (Ketcham) Hodgson. Bruce worked for Ford Motor Company in Avon as a machinist for over thirty years before his retirement. With his wife, Donna, he attended the LaGrange Church of God.
Always working on something, Bruce enjoyed making things by hand and was known to fix anything and everything. A little bit of Gorilla Glue would go a long way, and many loved ones will fondly remember things that he repaired for them. He was an excellent woodworker and, as a machinist, was mechanically inclined and enjoyed working on engines. He was passionate about both cars and motorcycles and liked making them run better and faster. Eventually, this love of repair developed into dreaming up new and creative ways to improve upon the items that he used in his daily life. He was an imaginative, and forward-thinking person who was always up for a challenge and never had hard feelings if something was damaged in his home.
Bruce was also an outdoorsman; he loved fishing, hunting, target shooting, and reloading ammunition. He was also known to enjoy time spent in nature and observing wildlife. Most important to Bruce was his family; he had an incredible sense of humor that he shared with all that he knew and loved.
Left to cherish Bruce's memory are his wife and best friend, Donna (Hixon), whom he wed on October 29, 2011; along with children, Joshua (Alison) Hodgson of Sunbury, Nathaniel Hodgson of Salem, and Eric (Alicia) Hodgson of Grafton; grandchildren, Anthony, Andrew, Amy, Charity, Koltin, and Ryder; and step-children, Shawn Skobel, and Christie Esclavon. He is also survived by his brother, Richard Hodgson of Lorain. Bruce was preceded in death by his parents, Gayle and Lois Hodgson.
Family and friends are invited to the visitation on Friday, October 17, 2025 from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at Norton-Eastman Funeral Home, 370 S. Main St., Wellington, OH 44090. A funeral service will immediately follow, beginning at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor Danny Wright officiating. There will be no burial at this time.
