Bruce Kloster Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery Funeral Home on Feb. 13, 2026.
Bruce Kloster, 76, of Hiawatha, was called home to glory on Thursday, February 12, 2026, at St. Luke's Helen G. Nassif Transitional Care Center in Cedar Rapids, following a courageous battle with cancer.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 20, 2026, at Zion Lutheran Church in Hiawatha, officiated by Pastor Kevin C. Zeller Jr. Visitation will take place from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the church prior to the service. A luncheon will follow the service. Burial will be held at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.

Bruce was born on July 6, 1949, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to Floyd and Connie Kloster. He attended the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee, where he earned both his bachelor's and master's degrees in engineering and computer science. On August 14, 1971, he married Susan Gunderson at Capitol Drive Lutheran Church in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Bruce worked at Automatic Electric in Northlake, Illinois, for three years before moving to Cedar Rapids to begin a 33-year career with Rockwell Collins. After retiring, he did not stay idle for long and began working part-time at Genova Technologies. Whether serving as a senior director at Collins or as Chief Technology Officer at Genova Technologies, Bruce especially enjoyed mentoring young engineers and helping them grow in their careers.

Bruce loved sports and participated in Rockwell softball, basketball, bowling, and eventually golf leagues. He valued the many friendships formed through those teams and cherished the camaraderie they brought to his life.

He was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Although he discovered his love for Christ later in life, he was a faithful member of Zion Lutheran Church for the past forty years. He served the congregation as chairman and as an elder for many years. Most recently, in 2024, he chaired the calling committee for the church's new pastor.

Bruce is survived by his wife of 54 years, Susan Kloster; his daughter, Mary (Aaron) Streeter; his granddaughter, Lily Streeter; and his grandson, Brendan Streeter.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Michael.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Bruce's honor may be directed to Zion Lutheran Church.
