CROGHAN – Dean Thomas Kloster, 52, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Sunday, August 17th. He knew his parents and wife were there with him. Dean loved his family and has taken part of all of us with him.
Dean was born August 13th, 1973 to Patrick J. and Donna M. (Knowlton) Kloster. He loved talking about his childhood between Belfort and his grandparent's on Jerden Falls, and the adventures he, his sister Sam, and cousins experienced.
He attended Beaver River Central, graduating from there in 1991, before attending the Electrical Program at SUNY Canton.
Dean spent many years playing football, volleyball and softball, and was known as "Coop" or "Coopy". The outdoors, and animals, were two of his favorite pastimes, he and his wife had a small hobby farm and he could usually be found "out back" in the woods.
From early on, he was a dedicated and hard worker for many years, he worked at the Keefer and Lyndaker Farms in addition to full-time work. For the past 15 years, Dean was employed with Dow Electric, which had become extended family to him.
In 1998, he began dating Maria L. Garito, and they were married January 11, 2015. For the last 27 years, they handled everything life handed them together.
There are no words that can describe Dean as wholly as this… If you knew him as a father, if you saw him in that role…then you were lucky enough to really know Dean. His daughter Shiloh absolutely filled him with pride, joy, and overwhelming love. He was the tea party guest, dance cheerleader, farm and outdoor partner, fishing guide, reading helper, absolute best friend, #1 supporter, hero, and sun in the universe to his little girl, and the feeling was mutual.
The family would like to extend their appreciation to Lewis County Search and Rescue, Lewis Co. Sheriffs Dept., the multiple agencies and first responders who arrived and assisted.
Dean is survived by his daughter, Shiloh, wife, Maria, parents, Patrick and Donna, mother-in-law, Elaine Garito, sister and brother in law, Samantha and Greg Zehr, niece, Amanda, nephews, Derrick and Tyler, many special aunts, uncles and cousins.
He is predeceased by six children, whom he is now able to hold tight, Erik, Norah, Baby K. "munchkin", Baby K. II, and Elise. His father in law, Robert Garito, uncles, Burt and Mike Kloster, maternal and paternal grandparents, and two of his best friends and cousins, Randy and Rick Kloster.
Calling hours for family and friends will be on Friday, August 22nd from 5 to 8:00 P.M. at the Sundquist Funeral Home. There will be no other services. The family would like to extend their appreciation to Sundquist F.H. also.
