Obituary published on Legacy.com by Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery Funeral Home on Feb. 12, 2026.
Richard LeRoy Boots, 92, of Marion, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at HallMar Village, surrounded by his loving family. Per his wishes, cremation rites have been accorded, and services will be held at a later date. Entrusted with the arrangements is Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.

Richard was born on June 22, 1933, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Jess and Elizabeth (Vaudermas) Boots. He graduated from Franklin High School and soon after joined the United States Navy during the Korean War. He served from 1950 until being honorably discharged in 1954. Richard was united in marriage to Pauline Kasey on June 6, 1953, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Richard is survived by his wife of 72 years, Pauline Boots of Marion, Iowa; four sons, Alan L. (Cheri) Boots of Florida, William P. (Teresa) Boots of Letts, Iowa, David Boots of Marion, Iowa, and Steven C. (Emy) Boots of Marion, Iowa; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and many loving nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Richard was a 63-year member of First Presbyterian Church in Marion, Iowa. He worked for Longview Fibre Company and retired after 40 years of service. He was active as a Boy Scout leader for several years. Richard enjoyed traveling, visiting casinos, and, most of all, cherished spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Richard W. Boots; and a daughter-in-law, Maureen Boots.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the family.

Richard , my great uncle, and his lovely wife took my brother and I in for a few years when our own family has issues. He treated us like true sons and gave us a safe space to grow up. He even fought to keep us permanently, but in the end we had to go home. I´m forever grateful for their hospitality and parenting, a debt I could never repay. Love you Uncle.
