Bruce Maness Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by John M. Ireland & Son Funeral Home and Chapel on Sep. 11, 2024.
Bruce Grant Maness was born in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma, on February 6, 1949, to Mary (Wayland) and Elton Maness. He was called home on September 9, 2024.
As a young boy he developed a love for the outdoors and all that goes with it. Over the years, he became an avid hunter and fisherman. At the age of 17 he made the courageous decision to serve his country. He served in the 2nd battalion 1st artillery unit in Korea during the Vietnam War with the U.S. Army from 1966 to 1969. After returning home, he entered the Army Reserves and was honorably discharged in May 1975.
When he returned home, he reconnected with the love of his life, Donna (Tannehill). They married on July 30, 1971. Together they built a strong family and a beautiful life. As a young family, they enjoyed many camping trips with family. The lake was their home away from home. Bruce and Donna also belonged to a bowling league that they both enjoyed.
Bruce never met a stranger. He could talk to anyone, always cutting up, laughing, and seeing the humor in everything. Family was everything to him. Spending time with his wife, his kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids is what made him happiest.
In 2017, Bruce and Donna moved to Noble, OK. There, he was back in his element. He and Donna started a garden that he would tend and eventually got some chickens. He loved caring for his animals, including their dog Cali, who he'd walk the property with daily. He started woodworking, making things for his family, including puzzles for his grandkids.
He is preceded in death by his daughter Traci, mother Mary, father Elton, brothers Steve, and Scotty, and sister Ginger.
He is survived by wife Donna; son Bruce (Christy), daughter Brandi (Wes); grandchildren Courtney, Tommy, Mike, and Brent; great-grandchildren Brooklyn, Blake, Bruce, Priscilla, and Nash; sister Raylyn; and many nieces and nephews, and a large extended family.
