Our hearts are broken to let you know of the passing of Bruce Maynard, age 50, on January 7, 2025. Bruce leaves his partner of 28 years, John Kilgour, his parents, Fred and Kathy Maynard, his sister, Aria Maynard Glasgow (Michael), their children Colton, Trevor and Ella, along with in-laws, cousins, aunts & uncles, nieces & nephews and countless friends.
Bruce traveled the world and made lots of friends along the way, including his homes in Santa Cruz, Ann Arbor, Germany, Traverse City, Lake Tahoe, Sacramento and Fort Bragg, where he resided.
Bruce loved animals and was the proud parent of many dogs that adored him. Bruce was a master in the kitchen and graduated from the Culinary Institute of America. He loved nothing more than cooking for family and friends. He was a man of many talents beyond cooking including gardening, quilting, playing banjo, speaking fluent German and lots of home renovation projects. He was a free spirit and we are so grateful to have shared out lives with him and have loved him.
Bruce would not want tears for his death, but instead like to be celebrated with a special meal, a toast of champagne or anything that makes you think of him.
In lieu of flowers consider donating to your local animal shelter. A celebration of life will be planned at a later time. We would love to hear your memories of Bruce. Condolences may be sent to:
