Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, December 13 at 11:30am at St. Pius V Catholic Church in Cannon Falls with visitation one hour prior at 10:30am. Bruce was born on February 6, 1961 in New Prague to Leonard and Grace (Picka) Plonsky. He was a graduate of Cannon Falls High School. Bruce was united in marriage to Deanna Ryan on October 17, 1981 at St. Pius V Catholic Church in Cannon Falls. Bruce worked for Berwald Roofing from 1979-1997, and then owned and operated Cannon Valley Roofing of Cannon Falls from 1997-2013. He then began working for Kato Roofing in Mankato as a Maintenance Foreman.
Bruce enjoyed the outdoors - hunting, fishing, having bon-fires, gardening, and going on side-by-side rides. He, above anything, loved spending time with his family, and especially his 4 granddaughters. Bruce was known for his incredible sense of humor and relentless work-ethic. His dependability, integrity, willing to help anyone that needed it, and his genuine outlook on life and those that he loved, made Bruce a magnet for everybody he was around. He was a mentor, role-model and hero to his family. He made those around him better people. Better husbands and fathers, wives and mothers, and friends. He was also a lover of food. He made sure nobody went hungry, and we’d always joke that his 4 favorite things in life were his wife Deanna, his granddaughters, hunting, and eating. The legacy that Bruce has left his family is invaluable, and we can’t thank him enough for being a part of our lives and teaching us how to be better people.
He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Deanna Plonsky of Cannon Falls; his children, Brett (Michelle) Plonsky of Cannon Falls, and Amanda (Ryan) Halbert of Elko; 4 granddaughters, Evelyn and Vivian Halbert, Aspyn and Brekyn Plonsky; siblings, Deb Plonsky of Cannon Falls, Dale Plonsky of Cannon Falls, Pam (Bob) Beach of Cannon Falls, and mother-in-law Marlys Marthaler of Cannon Falls; nieces, nephews, and many other family members and friends.
Bruce is preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Grace Plonsky; fathers-in-law, Clem Joseph Ryan and Donald Joseph Marthaler.
