Stanley R. Plonsky

1932 - 2023

Stanley R. Plonsky, 91, of Greensburg, died Monday, Nov. 27, 2023, in Stonewall Jackson Hospital, Weston, W.Va. He was born Nov. 20, 1932, in Bovard, a son of the late George and Catherine (Olshefski) Plonsky. Prior to retirement, he had been a machinist for the Elliott Company in Jeannette. Stanley served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict and was a member of the VFW Post No. 33, Greensburg, and its Honor Guard. He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Cathedral, Greensburg. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Angeline Virginia "Vee" Plonsky; four sisters, Mary Zyvith, Verna Dennell, Violet Rhome and Ann Ohr; and three brothers, Edward, John and George Plonsky. He is survived by his son, Michael Plonsky (Suezette), of Murrysville; two grandchildren, Nathan Plonsky (Jenna), of Sugar Hill, Ga., and Makenna Plonsky, of Austin, Texas; two great-grandchildren, Lydia and Noah; two sisters, Helen Minyon, of San Antonio, Texas, and Stella Geiger, of Jeannette; and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the LEO M. BACHA FUNERAL HOME INC., 516 Stanton St., Greensburg. Prayers will begin at 9 a.m. Friday in the funeral home, followed by a funeral Mass to be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. in Blessed Sacrament Cathedral, Greensburg.
