Bruce Rakow

Bruce Rakow passed away peacefully at the VA Medical Center in St. Cloud on June 24, 2025 at the age of 83. His family sincerely appreciates the attentive and competent care he received from the compassionate staff during his final days.

Bruce worked for Allete (formerly MN Power) for more than 3 decades while also serving in numerous volunteer leadership roles including local boards, cub scouts, and the senior center while residing in Little Falls. Best known for his generosity and willingness to lend a hand, Bruce never hesitated getting his hands dirty within countless home projects. Additionally he selflessly contributed to many worthwhile causes to advance social justice, tolerance of ideas, and community capacity building.

Bruce relished playing cards, board games, and puzzles often leading to big laughs with family and friends. In addition, he loved the performing arts and enjoyed a wide variety of music, particularly old country, mariachi, and folk music. He was a wonderful dance partner, especially waltzes. He enjoyed the outdoors, and explored much of the Midwest through camping trips, canoeing, boating, and road trips. We will always remember the legendary bear showdown in the north woods...

He is survived by his spouse of 61 years, Marge; as well as foster mother Lorraine Zilka. Bruce was a loving father to his children Becky (Eddie) Decker, Tony (Lisa), Tim (Josefa), and Tom (Melissa). He cherished time with his grandchildren Paul, Andrea, Alex, Allena, Eva, Olivia, and Amelia. He is also survived by his two sisters-in-law Theresa and Cathleen.

He is preceded in death by his father Carl, mother Dorothy (Lougee) Rakow, foster father Lawrence Zilka; siblings Lynne Seehafer, Ronald, Gary, Bradley, infant David; as well as brother-in-law Darold Seehafer.

There will be a private burial.
