Bruce Ramerman, age 66, passed away on July 27, 2024, at Kadlec Hospital, in Richland Washington. He was born on April 6, 1958, to Wilbur and Reka (Arends) Ramerman, in Sunnyside, Washington.
Bruce grew up on a dairy farm on Wanita Road, learning how to milk cows and farm from his dad, Wilbur. Throughout his teen years he also was a member of the Sunnyside FFA, and showed both dairy cows and pigs and won many numerous awards. He graduated with the Sunnyside Class of 1976 and was very proud that they were a bicentennial class.
In 1980, Bruce met his wife, Betty, and they were married, on October 10, 1980, at the Sunnyside Christian Reformed Church and went on to raise a wonderful family together.
Bruce also helped Betty train and raise thoroughbred racehorses, and together they ran their horses at Longaces, Emerald Downs, Yakima Meadows, Playfair Racecourse, and Portland Mewdows. Throughout his life, Bruce has also worked in the dairy industry which he loved.
Bruce's other interests included NASCAR, which he and his son, Brian, would also have a discussion about after each race. Bruce also took up being the tractor driver for the YCBRA Barrel Club out of Sunnyside, at the Van de Graaf Arena, and it was one of his pride and joys, especially when fast times were ran. His other hobbies were tractors, farming, Ford trucks and traveling with his wife, Betty, and daughter, Brittani, to barrel racing competitions around the Northwest. Bruce was also very proud of his Dutch roots. He and his daughter, Brandi, loved doing the genealogy of their heritage and tracking down family members.
Bruce is survived by his wife of 44 years, Betty, his children, Brian Ramerman, Brandi Ramerman, and Brittani Ponder, son-in-law, Kyle Ponder, and daughter-in-law, Raquel Ramerman, five grandchildren, father-in-law, Edward Walsh, in-laws, Linda Ramerman, Connie and Randy Johnston, Terri and Kevin Chesbro, and Cliff and Shelly Walsh, and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Wilbur and Reka, brothers, Harry and Dean, his mother-in-law, Pat Walsh, and numerous other family members.
A Memorial Service for Bruce will be held on August 30, 20204, at 10:00am at Shaw & Sons Funeral Home (201 N. 2nd Street, Yakima, WA). A Fellowship Lunch will follow. A Graveside Service will be held at 2:00pm, at Lower Valley Memorial Gardens, in Sunnyside.
