Bruce Barton Roberts

Bruce Barton Roberts, Age 93, of Silver Spring, MD, passed away peacefully on January 17, 2026. Bruce was born in Shelby, NC on October 25, 1932, to Killian and Maggie (Hollyfield) Roberts. He was middle sibling to Woodrow "Woodie" and Melba (Hamrick) Roberts.

Bruce met his sweetheart, Eleanor, while working at Geico. He entered the Army on March 24, 1953, but not before marrying his "darling" on March 21, 1953. He was father to Thomas Barton, Gary David, Christopher Allan and Emily Jane.

He was a devoted husband and father who worked 35+ years at NOL/NSWC, Department of the Navy in White Oak, MD. He enjoyed photography, gardening, and volunteering for Bingo Night at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church. After retiring, he enjoyed his walks, tinkering in his workshop, crossword puzzles and playing pool.

Bruce was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Woodie, his son Thomas and his adoring wife Eleanor. He is survived by his children Gary (Susan Price), Christopher (Susan) and Emily (Michael), 8 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

When he lost his beloved Eleanor last year, he was left with a hole in his heart that was beyond repair. Every

day, he yearned to be reunited with her. And now he is…
