Bruce Schaffer, age 68, passed away peacefully at his home in Woodridge, IL on December 15, 2025. He is survived by his devoted wife of 41 years, Patty Schaffer (nee Flynn), and their loving children, Michelle (Derek) Basta, Kimberly (Jim) Berg, and the late Tim (Shantelle) Schaffer. Proud grandfather to Hailey, Anthony, Olivia, Liam, and Forrest. Cherished son of the late Robert and Dorothy Schaffer. Brother of Craig Schaffer, Lynn (Ken) McCann, Judy Schaffer, the late Peggy Schaffer, and Drew (Erin) Schaffer. Brother-in-law to Colleen (Gerry), Bill (Sue), Mariann (Bruce), Barb (Al), John (Patty), Jackie (Bill), and Cathy (Sam). Uncle to many nieces and nephews.

Bruce was a man of simplicity, who found his greatest pleasures at home, whether it was enjoying a backyard bonfire, woodworking in his basement, making pizza with the kids, or playing board games. His home was the center of many big parties where he enjoyed competing in games of bags and darts.

Above all, Bruce was a loving man who believed that family meant everything. His desire to be at home with his loved ones was a testament to his belief that it wasn't about grand gestures, but simply about being together.

Bruce will be profoundly missed, but the memories he created will forever bring smiles to our faces and warmth to our hearts.

In honor of Bruce, a visitation will be held on Sunday, December 21, 2025, from 1:00 pm – 7:00 pm at Modell Funeral Home, 7710 S. Cass Ave., Darien. Friends and family are invited back to the funeral home for additional visitation and prayers on Monday, December 22, 2025, from 9:15 am until time of prayers at 10:15 am. A procession to St. Scholastica Church for an 11:00 am Mass will immediately follow prayers. A procession to Holy Family Cemetery will immediately follow Mass.
