Groveland- Mr. Bruce Steve Kitchens, age 74 passed away Sunday evening, September 15, 2024 at Evans Memorial Hospital. Mr. Kitchens was born in Metter, GA to the late Bruce Getzen Kitchens and Jesse Nell Mincey Kitchens. He was a graduate of Metter High School and Swainsboro Technical College. Mr. Kitchens retired from the Georgia Forestry Commission with over 32 years of service as a ranger and wildland fire fighter. Steve loved hunting, fishing and farming Anything to be outside. He was a family man and enjoyed helping others.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Karen McFarland Kitchens of Groveland; one son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Megan Kitchens of Brooklet; two daughters and sons-in-law, Heather and Johnathan Staton of Auburndale, FL and Morgan and Jonathan Levant of Austin, TX; two brothers, Don Kitchens of Metter and Michael Kitchens of Metter; one sister, Monice Holloway of Metter; grandchildren, Hayden Jackson, Danny Staton, Kylie Kitchens, Wyatt Staton, Brantly Kitchens, and Cole Kitchens; and his canine companion, Lilly
The family will receive friends 9-10 A.M. Saturday, September 21, 2024 at the funeral home.
A memorial service will follow at 10 A.M. Saturday, September 21, 2024 in the chapel of Flanders Powell Funeral Home with Pastor Joey Holloway officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Lowcountry Down Syndrome Society, Savannah Chapter.
