Dr. Bruce Call Williams, age 80, passed away peacefully in his home on April 28, 2023, in St George, Utah surrounded by his loving family.
Bruce was born in Provo, Utah to LaMar S. Williams and Nyal B. Williams on December 21, 1942. He graduated from West High School. He served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter-Day Saints in Johannesburg, South Africa. After the completion, he came home and attended the University of Utah. While there he met the love of his life who also happened to be the Belle of the Y at BYU, miss Anita Louise Johnson. Marrying her was one of the three things in his life he was certain of.
Two children followed shortly after (Angel and Greg) and he graduated from the University of Utah School of Medicine in 1970. He also enlisted in the US Army and served in Germany for 4 years. Upon returning to the US, one more child joined the family - Nathan.
Dr. Williams was recruited to be the first General Vascular & Thoracic surgeon in St. George by Dr. Booth and Dr. Fawson. His successful practice opened in St. George - a surgical center and a myriad of other care clinics. Medicine was his life and his true passion. It was also in St George that he completed his family with Mandy. Of Bruce's many accomplishments, he served as a delegate for the Utah Medical Association, a member of the Governor's Task Force for Domestic Violence, DRMC Chief of Staff, a fellow of American College of Surgeons & served selflessly as a beloved Bishop for the Bloomington 7th Ward.
Of Bruce's many hobbies, he loved both water and snow skiing, gardening, fishing, traveling, stamp and coin collecting, and attending any sport or activity involving his grandchildren. He loved watching basketball; he avidly followed Dixie College to their National Championships and always cheered for the Utah Jazz, even in the bad years. He was a true storyteller and always had a unique way of captivating his audience.
Dr. Williams is survived by his beloved wife, Anita Louise; his children: Angela Ann Williams, Bruce Gregory (Rachael) Williams, Jon Nathan (LoraLynn) Williams, and Mandy Lynn (Mason) Wells; his siblings: LaMar (Mary Kay), Roger (LeAnn), Steven (Lana), Gloria Yeates, Michael (Tammy), and Jerry (Kaylene); as well as his 12 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, LaMar and Nyal Williams; sister, Marilyn (Don) Brady; brother-in-law, John Yeates; and grandson, Ian Paulson.
Dr. Bruce Williams was a man loved by many and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Dr.Williams or Bishop Williams. He was both to the Foster family. I was fortunate to come home to St. George and practice medicine in 2006 after many years away. Bruce took me under his wing and was so kind. We shared many laughs about how things on our little home town had changed over the years. Love to his family. He will be missed - Chrissy Foster

I'm so sorry to hear about Dr. Williams. He was a warrior for sure and the people of this community were so blessed to have him here. I am a physician and had occasion to ask him to consult in urgent and non- urgent situations many times. No matter the time or situation I could count on him to show up and take care of the problem in his usual professional manner. I had and still have great respect for him and and glad to have known him and counted him as a friend and colleague. We will miss him.

Bruce was a loving, kindhearted man. He was always so kind and respectful towards me when I was young, I had the privilege of being there babysitter when I was in 6th grade up through my 8th just before Nathan was born. I lived in the house in back of there´s so when He and Anita would come home around 1-2 am he would lift me up so I could get over the fence and drop into my backyard and head back to bed. I loved how kind he was and how much he showed his love for Anita and the kids, I truly admired him. They moved to ST.George and then later in my life I moved to ST.George to open up a Dry Cleaners , I was home doing things with my little girl and there was a knock on my door and there stood Anita I couldn´t believe my eyes, oh how I´d missed her and her family. I needed some medical help and so I knew I could turn to Bruce and he would help me or tell me who to see. He did a few surgeries on me and did one for my daughter. We had taken my daughter to the emergency room in Riverton , Utah and they said she was just fine but in my heart I knew it was her gallbladder so as soon as I got back home I called Anita she called Bryce and he made a opening for my daughter to come straight to his office, he had a test done on her and said she was heading straight to surgery, I can´t tell you how grateful I was that Bruce was there and so willing to help me when I needed him the most at that time. I can honestly say he was one of a kind!! In the greatest ways possible, he would do anything for someone if so needed, he had a heart of gold. Bruce was someone I could go to for advice since I had no family here in ST.G , Anita has always been a second mother to me and I can´t express my love and gratitude towards Bruce and Anita for all their honest true loving support. Bruce is going to be missed so much but I know he will see his family again soon. I will miss you Bruce, I love you Anita and the family. I will do anything I can to help you if you need me
