Bryan Leslie Burnside, 69, passed away May 23, 2024, at his home in Richwood, and is now at peace in the company of cherished family members who preceded him in death.
Born July 9, 1954, to Harlan and Christine Burnside, Bryan lived his entire life in his beloved Richwood. Like his late mother, he loved spending time at the Richwood Library. He enjoyed socializing and playing games with friends at the Richwood Civic Center, as well as joining trips sponsored by the Center. He was well-liked by the children and other volunteers at the Life Wise Academy program where he regularly volunteered.
Bryan was a quiet, gentle soul. He was never at the center of attention but took great interest in the stories of others. He was a quiet helper who assisted many with errands, rides and visits. He had a generous and kind spirit. Bryan loved family gatherings and never missed holidays, graduations and weddings, except for one Christmas when he mistakenly showed up at the wrong house, only to find nobody home! The family enjoyed teasing him about that for years afterward.
He liked plants, cats and dogs, the wilderness, and often competed at Richwood Fair. Peanuts and Snoopy greatly amused him throughout his life. He collected a variety of Snoopy-themed items and believed there was wisdom in many of Snoopy's lessons: A hug is a great gift – one size fits all, and it's easy to exchange.
Bryan was a 1972 graduate of North Union High School, and a graduate of Findlay College. Besides working at some of the family businesses, such as Richwood Furniture, he had several other jobs throughout his career including at a Marysville nursing home and Goodwill in Marysville.
Bryan was preceded in death by his parents and three siblings: Harlean Short (the late John Short); Sharon Fish (Dick survives); and Bud Burnside (Peg survives). He was also predeceased by two nephews with whom he was especially close, John Short and Bill Fish.
Numerous other relatives survive. Bryan was particularly fond of several nieces and nephews: Beth Short (John Besch); Doug Short (April) and children Daniel (Chris), Sarah (Jack) and Brooklynn Short; Chad (Michelle) Burnside and children Andrew and Caleb; Matt (Kieu) Burnside and daughter, Anna; and Madison Short Lawson (Aaron). He is also survived by nephews Jim Fish and Mike Fish.
Bryan found great joy and fellowship at the Fulton Creek Friends Church. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday June 5, 2024 at 5:30 pm at the church, Pastor Art Minnehan will officiate. Everyone is invited to a light meal after the service for a time of fellowship.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Fulton Creek Friends Church, 10950 Fulton Creek Rd. Richwood, Ohio 43344 or to the Richwood Library, 4. E. Ottawa St., Richwood, Ohio 43344.

I was a classmate of Bryan´s at North Union. In school, Bryan seemed a little quiet to me. I believe my mother did ironing for the family when I was little and Bryan would come and play.

I worked with Bryan at Goodwill in Marysville. I didn't know him very well. I'm saddened to hear of his passing and hope he is in peace now! Rest easy friend
