Bryan Wingate Oakes, 65, of King, passed away on Thursday, February 27, 2025 at his home.
He was born December 12, 1959 in Jackson, Mississippi to Jack Elliott Oakes and Marilyn Joyner Oakes Andrews. Bryan had several careers including being a professional truck driver and graphic design artist. He enjoyed researching and following world and national events and the stock market. He enjoyed spending time honing his personal music talent, studying and painting "Highwaymen" style, and playing golf on the computer. Bryan totally loved giving directions, whether it be to travel locations or just how to do anything and everything. He loved grocery shopping and preparing all types of cuisines, especially pizza.
During his life, Bryan lived on both the East Coast and West Coast and lived in between the two, having been a graduate of Mississippi State University in Starkville, Mississippi.
In addition to his parents, Bryan was preceded in death by his older brother, Jack Elliott Oakes, Jr. and grandson, Jeremy Cardell Hall.
Bryan is survived by his wife of 26 years, Willa Dean Oakes; her children, Jessica Ivey Hall and husband Tyler, and Jared Houston Vann. Bryan was Poppa to seven wonderful grandchildren. In addition, Bryan is survived by his brother, Barry Oakes in Oregon, and other relatives across the United States.
There will be a memorial service held at a time and location to be announced later.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
