Ronald G. "Bucky" Walters, a beloved figure in the Wichita community, passed away peacefully on September 10, 2025, at the age of 86. Born on April 6, 1939, in Wichita, Kansas, Bucky dedicated his life to bringing joy and laughter to those around him. He was a gifted comedian and entertainer, known for his charming personality and love for the city and its people.

Bucky's career was diverse, from the vibrant world of beauty salons to the stage, where he performed for years at the annual Gridiron fundraiser organized by the Society of Professional Journalists. He operated several beauty salons, with the last being Headhunters at Woodlawn and Kellogg. Before retiring, he worked at the Hair Connection, where his presence was felt and appreciated.

Bucky graduated from Wichita East High School and attended Wichita State University. His love for the Shockers lasted throughout his life.

Bucky was not just an entertainer; he was also a talented musician. As the lead singer for the Premiers, he had the privilege of opening for legendary acts such as Johnny Cash. Music was a profound part of his life, allowing him to connect with many throughout his journey.

He leaves behind fond memories and a legacy filled with laughter. He was preceded in death by his parents, Glenn and Fern Walters, as well as his nephews, Kevin Miles Walters and Curtis Conrad Walters.

Bucky is survived by his brother, Richard Walters, and his nephew, Miles Walters. In the hearts of his family and friends, he will be remembered for the joy he spread and the warmth he brought to every room he entered.

Bucky's life will be celebrated on Friday, October 17, 2025, at Cozine Life Events Center. The Celebration of Life Reception will begin at 2:00 pm and continue until 4:00 pm, giving those who loved him a chance to share cherished memories and honor the remarkable man he was.

Though he has left this world, Bucky's spirit will live on in the stories, laughter, and love that he shared with everyone he encountered.
