Bud Albert Linebaugh
May 23, 1950 – April 14, 2025
Bud Albert Linebaugh, 74, went home to be with the Lord on April 14, 2025, passing peacefully in his San Diego, California home. He was born on May 23, 1950, in Youngstown, Ohio.
Bud is survived by his sons Joe (Kathleen) Linebaugh and Mark (Teresa) Linebaugh of Ohio; his sister Cheryl Van Cleave of California; and his brother Dan (Joan) Linebaugh of Texas. He was preceded in death by his brother Bradley Linebaugh and by his parents, Clyde (Rose) Linebaugh and Wilma (Jim) Connolly.
He is also survived by five grandchildren-Alaina (Levi) Harris, Alissa Hartley, Aleah (Nathan) McKenney, Aidan Hartley, and Addison Hartley-and by his great-granddaughter, Eva Harris. Bud is lovingly remembered by many beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends who will miss him deeply.
He is also remembered by Clara Linebaugh, his former wife and the mother of his children, with whom he shared many meaningful years and a lasting family bond.
A 1968 graduate of Struthers High School in Struthers, Ohio, Bud trained as an electrician and began his career working in the steel mills of Youngstown. He had a gifted, hardworking spirit-repairing cars, building a robot for boxing and parrying practice, converting his two-story home into apartments, and teaching his son Joe to box and compete. After relocating to California, Bud became a skilled plumber and completed numerous specialized projects for schools, homes, and city infrastructure.
Bud was a man of many interests: an avid comic book collector, a magician at heart who loved to perform tricks to delight his family, and a devoted Cleveland Browns fan. Whether side by side or separated by miles, Bud and his sons would faithfully watch games together-often connected by phone and shared cheering. He also enjoyed playing chess with his late brother Bradley and passed on valuable life skills to his younger brother Dan, and to his sons Joe and Mark.
Above all, Bud was a seeker of truth. He loved reading the Bible and thoughtfully exploring matters of faith, engaging in deep conversations with his sister Cheryl and his sons, Joe and Mark. His heart was open, and his desire to know God was sincere. Those who knew him saw his joy, his humor, and his unshakable determination to love and provide for his family.
Bud had a unique gift for making others laugh. He found joy in lifting spirits and was often the one to brighten a room with a perfectly timed joke or a twinkle in his eye.
Dan, his youngest brother, fondly remembers how Bud taught him to wrestle, repair cars, and play chess. They shared many hands-on projects together, including building a patio and installing doors during Bud's home renovations.
"He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away."
- Revelation 21:4
Bud was laid to rest at Mount Hope Cemetery in San Diego, California.
A celebration of Bud's life will be held on June 28th at 11:00 AM at Poland Village Baptist Church, 79 Hill Drive, Poland, OH 44514, where family and friends will gather to honor the life of a faithful man who has gone home.
