Buddy Harold Bedsaul, 69, of Ladson, South Carolina, passed away on Wednesday, June 18, 2025.
Born on June 18, 1956, in Galax, VA, Buddy was the son of the late Shirley Aldred Bedsaul and the late Barnett Bedsaul.
Buddy proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, stationed in Hawaii and Charleston. Buddy was a retired Master Deputy Sheriff, having spent nearly 37 years with the Charleston County Sheriff’s office. When he wasn’t on patrol, Buddy could be found spending time with his wife, children, and granddaughters. Buddy loved being at home, where he always had ongoing projects. He could always be found tinkering in his garage, with his two German Shepherds, Abbey and Baron, right at his side.
Buddy kept life fun, and always had a toy or two, whether it was a boat, motorcycle, or go-cart. He was known in his neighborhood to have the best house around at Halloween, which was his favorite holiday. He loved decorating and creating haunted houses out of his garage for everyone to enjoy, and never missed a fright night.
Buddy was full of life and love, and bought joy to all that knew him. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
In addition to his parents, Buddy is preceded in death by his brother, Timmy Bedsaul and sister, Cindy Wilson.
Buddy is survived by his wife, Janet Bryant Bedsaul; sons: Cameron Bedsaul (Brittney) and Elliott Bedsaul; daughter, Jennifer Walker (Johnny); granddaughters, Hailey Burcham and Cali Grace Bedsaul; sisters: Debby Handy, Patricia Frost, Rebecca Bedsaul and Robin Bedsaul; and brother, Scott Bedsaul.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, from 5:00 PM - 6:00 PM at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home, West Ashley, with a funeral service to follow at 6:00 PM at the funeral home.
