Funeral services for Mr. Buddy Harper will be held Thursday, July 24, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home with Pastor Scott Harrell officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Gilead Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:30 AM to 12:45 PM at the funeral home prior to services. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements.
Benjamin "Buddy" Harper, 73, of Meridian, MS passed away Sunday, July 20, 2025, at his home.
Buddy began his military service by serving in the United States Air Force and then transferred to the United States Air National Guard at Key Field under the Palace Chase Program until his retirement. While serving in the Air National Guard, Buddy also had a career as a Market Manager with Winn Dixie, where he loved interacting with his customers, building strong relationships with them that remain to this day. Upon his retirement from Winn Dixie, he became a professional "Papaw" to his four grandbabies.
Buddy enjoyed riding horses, hunting, gardening, taking care of the family land, and watching Hallmark Christmas Movies.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Cathy Harper, his daughters, Karen Dieckmann (Drew) and Katie Fulton (Jacob), grandchildren, Thomas Dieckmann, Killian Fulton, Mary Dieckmann, and Carter Fulton, and his mother, Marie Harper.
He was preceded in death by his father, Willard Harper, and his brother, Roger Harper.
Pallbearers will be Craig Suttles, Jacob Fulton, Ricky Roberts, Harold Dunn, Bobby Renfrow, and John Ethridge Jr. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Charles Harper, Harold Harper, and Harold Wayne Mazingo.
