Burdette Larson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Honquest Family Funeral Home with Crematory - Roscoe on May 15, 2023.
Bud Larson, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, went to his heavenly home on May 13, 2023, at the age of 87. Bud was born on December 3, 1935 in Rockford, Illinois, to parents Ralph and Violet Larson. Bud served in the United States Army stationed in Italy for two years before returning home to marry his sweetheart, Phyllis Carlson. They went on to raise three children together: Mike, Valorie, and Melanie. Bud was a devoted husband and father, always putting his family first. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren, and cherished every moment he had with them.
Bud had a successful career as sales manager at Rock River Disposal. He was known for his integrity, work ethic, and commitment. In his free time, Bud enjoyed being outdoors with his family, hiking, kayaking, horseback riding, and traveling. He and Phyllis took many trips together over the years, exploring new places and making memories they would cherish. Bud was an active member of Hope Evangelical Free Church in Roscoe, IL. His faith was an integral part of his life, and he found great comfort and strength in his relationship with God.
Bud is survived by his wife Phyllis; his children Mike (Cathy) Larson, Valerie (Bruce) Ellison and Melanie (Jim) Mays; his eight grandchildren, Luke (Aleah) Larson, Jennifer (Dustin) Goodman, Brett (Kristine) Ellison, Lauren Mays, Leah (Stephan) Scicluna, Brooke Mays, Levi (Nicole) Larson, Tes Larson; and his twelve great-grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by all who loved him. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Sharon Govig.
Memorial service will be at 11:30am with a visitation from 10:30am until the service on Thursday, May 18, 2023 in Hope Evangelical Free Church, 5656 Elevator Road, Roscoe, IL 61073. Luncheon will follow the service at the church. Private burial in Roscoe Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to OSF Hospice or the Rockford Rescue Mission.
