Burl D. Prickett

Burl Dwane Prickett, born on January 16, 1939, in Baxter, West Virginia, passed away peacefully in Columbus, Ohio, on October 31, 2025, at the age of 86.

Burl served his country honorably as a U.S. Army Veteran and was a proud member of the Grove City American Legion Post #0164. His career as a dedicated Construction Operator and a member of the Operating Engineers Union spanned many years, during which he contributed to numerous projects with skill, strong work ethic and commitment to his craft.

He was a man whose hands were often found working on antique cars and trucks, a passion he shared with his sons. Through this shared love, they not only restored vehicles but also crafted cherished memories together. His life was one of quiet achievements, marked by simple joys and the bonds forged through shared interests.

Burl was preceded in death by his parents, William and Flota (Wright) Prickett, as well as his brothers Billy, Bobby, and Tom Prickett, and sisters Shirley Prickett Stimpert and Flota Prickett King. He is survived by his sons, Jason Prickett, Brad Prickett (Leah), and Ricky Lee Prickett (Anna). Burl's legacy also includes his cherished grandchildren, Alexis, Braden, Vivienne, and Jordan Prickett and his Great-Grandchildren Bradee and Cole Prickett. He leaves behind his brother Marshall Prickett, and sisters Sandra Pryor, Betty Stimpert, Donna Warner, Wanda Shumaker, and Brenda Thompson, along with several nieces and nephews who will remember him fondly.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at Bauknecht-Altmeyer Funeral Home - Powhatan Point Chapel, located at 186 Main Street, Powhatan Point, Ohio 43942. Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 6, 2025, from 2 PM to 4 PM and again from 6 PM to 8 PM. Additional visitation will take place on Friday, November 7, 2025, from 10 AM until the time of service at 11 AM. Burial will immediately follow at Powhatan Cemetery.

Burl will be remembered for his steadfast dedication to his work, his service to his nation, and the love he shared with his family. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
