Burton Edward Hooker

Burton Edward Hooker, 90, went to be with the Lord and his beloved wife, Mary, on Nov. 6, 2025. He was born Nov. 3, 1935, in Grand Ledge, son of Forest and Tillie (Hoerner) Hooker. He and Mary were married on Valentine's Day 1959 and celebrated 65 years together.
Burt worked with his dad at Hooker Upholstery and retired as an underwriter from Farm Bureau Insurance. He was a long-time member of Grand Ledge First United Methodist Church.
Burt made friends wherever he went and enjoyed playing euchre and poker, hunting and golf. Burt and Mary loved to dance and to camp and travel with family and friends. Together they visited all 50 state capitals.
Most of all, Burt cherished his family. He taught his children to work hard, to help anyone who needed a hand and to live life with joy, no matter what it threw their way. He is survived by sons Michael (Pamela) and Thomas (Kimberly) Hooker; daughters, Karen (Michael) Peterson and Annette (Marcos) Perez; grandchildren Stevan, Kate, Jared, Matt, Becca, Josh, Alyson and McKenna; great grandchildren Thomas, Jackson, Wyatt, Parker, Hayden, Hallie and Mylah.
The family extends its gratitude to all of dad's friends and caregivers at Eaton County Health and Rehabilitation Services.
Visitation will take place at Mills Funeral Home on Monday, Nov. 10, 2025, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2025, at 11 a.m. at Mills Funeral Home, Peters & Murray Chapel, 301 E. Jefferson Hwy, Grand Ledge, MI 48837, with a visitation one hour prior; interment to follow at Oakwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Burt's memory to the Healing and Healthcare Foundation at echrshealth.org/foundation or the Grand Ledge First United Methodist Church.
