Burton J. “Burtie” Merriman

CLOVERDALE - Burton J. “Burtie” Merriman, 62, of Cloverdale, passed away at 12:21 p.m., Saturday, March 28, 2026, at Ohio Health Medical Center, Van Wert. He was born October 6, 1963, in Paulding to the late Leo and Eunice (Davis) Merriman. On August 16, 1986, he married Sandra Geren, who survives in Cloverdale.

Other survivors include three children: Felicia (Lonnie) Golliver, Colton (Amber) Merriman and Henry (Allison) Merriman; seven grandchildren: Hayden Merriman, Braxton Merriman, Easton Golliver, Raylynn Golliver, Damian Golliver, Axel Merriman and Quincy Merriman; and three siblings: Nancy McMichael, Susan Osborn and Dennis Merriman.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two siblings: Franklin Merriman and Leo Richard Merriman.

Burtie was a farmer for McClure Farms since 1992. He was a member of Middle Creek United Methodist Church. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially farming, hunting and fishing. Burtie also loved spending time with his family and friends.

A Celebration of Life will begin at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, April 2, 2026, at Middle Creek United Methodist Church, 19367 Road 24, Grover Hill, Ohio. Visitation will be held from 2 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at the church, as well as 10 to 11 a.m. on Thursday prior to the service at the church.

Arrangements are under the direction of HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Oakwood.
