Byron Jean May went to live with Jesus on November 12, 2025. He was born minutes before his identical twin brother, Myron Jack May, on September 29, 1932, in Portland, Indiana to Russell Orlando May and Harriet Mildred (Boots) May. He was married to Eleanor (Nellie) Roberta (Abell) May for 53 years. Together they raised three children: Clarice, Russell (Elena), and Eleanor (Mark). They also enjoyed the blessing of eight grandchildren.
He was a man of many interests and talents. Byron was a son, brother, cousin, uncle, student, veteran, college graduate, employee, husband, father, friend, neighbor, and sharer of the Word of God. Byron loved Jesus. He enjoyed talking (a little) in German, Russian, and Spanish. He loved reading, music, poetry, rhymes, clean jokes, camping, and woodcarving. His favorite poem was The Gospel According to You. He would share it often with anyone who cared to listen and even with those who did not! He looked out for his neighbors and was generous with both his time and treasure. He was the kind of man who would stop and help you change your tire or take you to get gas if you ran out.
He was a true gentleman, a faithful husband, a loving father, and dear friend. While he had a long career as a civil engineer with the State of Indiana, he once remarked that his greatest accomplishment in life was raising his three children. He loved his family most.
Byron was beloved and will be deeply missed.
A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
