Born November 17, 1937 in Winchester, MA, he was the son of James B. May, Sr. and Lillian Rose May (Leggett) May.
He was married to Linda Noel May for 32 ½ years.
Members of his family his sons Christopher M. May and his wife Kate of Springvale, ME and Russell S. May and his wife Karen of Billerica, MA; step-children Cindy Langlois and her husband Dana of Haverhill, MA, Rachel Soleto and her husband Charles of Seabrook NH and Andrew Emond of Merrimac, MA; 20 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren; brothers John Boyd May of Medford, MA and Gordon Robert May of Chestnut Hill Cove, MD; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife Linda May who died July 23, 2025, his daughter Sarah A. Harvey who died May 25, 2025 and his son James B. May, III who died in 2012.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Locust Grove Cemetery in Merrimac, MA.
