Ray P. Buxton Jr.

Newfields – Ray P. Buxton, Jr., 86, of Dixon Avenue died peacefully November 16, 2025 at Exeter Hospital.

Born February 12, 1939 in Newburyport, MA, he was the son of Ray P. Buxton, Sr. and Esther (Clement) Buxton.

Ray was very active in the Newfields community, he was a coach for the Little League & Pony League, served on the N.Y.A.A., served as a selectman, served as Water & Sewer commissioner for over 50 years, served on the Newfields Fire Department for 64 years (39 years as Assistant Chief), served on the Newfields Fire Department building addition committee, Newfields Playground committee, B.O.D. Ready Rides, and the Model A Club of America NH Chapter.

He was a member of the Newfields Community Church.

Ray was predeceased by his wife Edna Buxton who died in 2015; his parents, Ray & Esther and his sister, Joanne Buxton.

Survivors include his 2 sons, Scott "Bucky" Buxton and his wife Lisa of Newfields and Jeffrey Buxton and his wife Tammy, both of Newfields; 3 grandchildren, Christopher Todd Buxton and wife Megan of Glouster, MA, Michael Jeffrey Buxton and partner Deanna Chevrette of Epping, and Lilly Michelle Buxton of Newfields; 1 great grandchild, Lucy Grace Buxton of Glouster; a special niece, MaryJoe Benosky and her husband Stan of South Hampton; and his brother, George Buxton and his wife Connie of South Hampton.

Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, November 23rd from 2 – 4 & 6 - 8 p.m. at Kent & Pelczar Funeral Home, 77 Exeter Road (Route 108), Newmarket.

A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, November 24th at 11 a.m. at the Newfields Community Church, 71 Main Street, Newfields. Burial will follow in Locust Grove Cemetery, Newfields.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Newfields Community Church or the Newfields Fire Department.
