Virgil Black

Virgil Black, age 66, of Trent Ridge, Morehead, passed away Saturday, November 8, 2025, at his home.
Born January 29, 1959, in Morehead, he was the son of the late Ocie and Arazona Trent Black. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Edwin Glen Black and Murvel Black.
Virgil is survived by his wife, Connie Sue Fraley Black; one daughter, Kayla Black of Morehead; one brother, Lyndon (Sherry) Black of Morehead; and four sisters, Wilda Crose, Violet (Arnold) Ison, and Geneva Young, all of Morehead, and Susan "Kay" Black of Hustonville, Kentucky. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, along with many other relatives and friends who will forever cherish his memory.
He was a retired heavy equipment operator for Hinkle Construction Company and had previously worked for Ruth Paving.
Virgil enjoyed spending time outdoors-gardening, fishing, and rabbit hunting. He especially loved his beagle hound, "Candy." Virgil was known for his big heart, generosity, and kindness, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, November 13, 2025, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Brother Timmy Brown officiating.
Pallbearers: Steven Crose, Brandon Crose, Joe Crose, Ethan Black, Nathan Black, and Ray McClurg.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.
