Carol Jean Hadley, 87, of Woodbridge,Virginia, went home to be with the Lord on September 5, 2025.
Carol "Jean" Hadley was born in Washington, DC to John and Mary Merry on December 13, 1937. She graduated from Washington and Lee High School in Arlington, Virginia.
Jean's life was a beautiful testament to unconditional love, devotion, and family. She selflessly dedicated herself to raising her children and grandchildren, showering them with unwavering support and affection. Every milestone, practice, and game was a cherished opportunity for her to show up, cheer them on, and instill in the them the values of love, kindness, and togetherness that will forever be her legacy.
Jean enjoyed gardening and cultivated beautiful flowers at her home in Marumsco Woods, Woodbridge, since 1965. She was also an avid Washington Nationals and Washington Commanders fan and enjoyed watching ballgames with her family. She was a great cook and was well known for her delicious potato salad, cookies, fudge and many other dishes.
Carol Jean Hadley is preceded in death by her husband, Elvin Hadley, a daughter, Cindy Spears, her parents, and six siblings.
Jean is survived by her children Donald Hadley (Lisa), Catherine Tellier (Neil), and Timothy Hadley (Aimee). She is also survived by a sister, Pam Burgesser (Greg) and a sister-in-law, Mary Jo Merry. In addition, she is survived by her grandchildren Jessica, Richard, Michael, Donny Wayne, Glenn, Rebecca, Matthew, Megan, and Kate; and great-grandchildren Joey, John, Ivan and Elsa. Finally, she is survived by close friends Lavenda Collins and Lenor "Sissy" Lawson.
The family of Carol Jean Hadley wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Dr. Fardin Akrami, his nurse Laura who kept in touch with Jean, and his staff; Dr. Ala Mortazavi and his staff; Dr. Naurang Gill and his staff; and Central Baptist Church.
The family invites everyone to a repast/reception after the funeral service from 2:30 - 4:00.
