C. Pauline “Polly” Rusk, age 97, of Chillicothe, passed away on Friday, September 22, 2023 at Proctor Hospital in Peoria.
Polly was born on April 13, 1926 in High Point, North Carolina to the late Paul Robert and Ursula (Hethcox) Barnhardt. She married Harold Everett Rusk on January 24, 1946 in Concord, NC. He preceded her in death on November 25, 1983. Also preceding her in death are two brothers; one sister; one son, Robert Rusk; one infant daughter; and one granddaughter, Trisha Tanner.
Surviving are her daughter, Carol (Jerry) Anderson of Chillicothe; her son Bruce (Bonnie) Rusk of Chillicothe; her brother, Ralph Barnhardt of Concord, NC; seven grandchildren, Chad (Jasmin) Anderson, Todd (Katie) Rusk, Cindy (Phillip) Orman, Jessica (Bob Hunter) Allen, Josh (Amanda) Rodriguez, Chano (Megan) Rodriguez, and Trina Rodriguez; 16 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and extended family.
She was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church in Chillicothe for over 60 years. She served on the Altar Committee, the Church council and attended many Bible studies. She enjoyed reading Christian books and she loved spending time and sharing her faith with her family and friends.
A service will be held on Wednesday, September 27, 2023 at noon at Weber-Hurd Funeral Home in Chillicothe with visitation beginning at 10am. Rev. Ron Martz will officate. Burial will follow at Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria. Memorials in her name may be made to the church or the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
