C.R. Morris passed from this life to his heavenly home on December 6, 2023, surrounded by his family. His care has been entrusted to Palmer Marler Funeral Home in Cushing, Oklahoma.
C.R. was born on February 22, 1941, to parents Clair Ralph and Georgie (Simpson) Morris in Cushing, Oklahoma. He and his siblings were raised in the Cushing area. He graduated from Cushing High School in 1959. In high school, he enjoyed playing on the Cushing Tigers "A" Basketball Team, and he was Pressman and Sports Editor of The Cushing Oiler high school newspaper.
Right out of high school, C.R. began working at the Cushing Citizen Newspaper, where he worked for about 4 years. He then moved to Stillwater and began working for the Stillwater News Press, where he enjoyed a 33-year career before retiring in 1998.
He was united in marriage to Sharon Haworth in 1986, and they spent 37 wonderful years together. C.R. has two children, Dana Davis and Paige Landreth. C.R. loved his family. He enjoyed going to his favorite fishing hole, working in his flower beds, and loved watching OSU football and Oklahoma City Thunder basketball. C.R. was always ready with a good joke and a laugh. C.R.'s family, including nephews and nieces, have numerous funny stories produced from time spent with him.
C.R. was preceded in death by his parents and his two brothers, Edward Lee Morris and Robert Morris.
He is survived by his wife Sharon; two daughters, Dana Davis and her husband Jerry, and Paige Landreth and her husband Randy; three grandchildren, Savannah Shipley, Parker Landreth, and Presley Landreth; three great-grandchildren, Quashawn Moses, Alexis Moses, and Kaiden Moses; along with many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends who will miss him greatly.
Graveside services will be held for C.R. at Flynn Cemetery at 2PM on Tuesday, December 12.
